Love Your City This April

04/1/20  |  Carla Umlauf

I would love to hear from you to find out what you are doing to keep positive.

Austin in April

Dear Friends,

I hope you and your family are doing well and staying safe, all things considered.

Below are some tips and helpful links to make the most of virtual living and support our local businesses.

The Real Estate market is slowing down and agents are being encouraged not to show properties during this isolation period. However, there are still buyers and sellers and open escrows thanks to technologies like Zoom and Blue Jeans that are allowing me to do my job. Virtual walk-throughs are being encouraged and the industry as a whole is working together to come up with creative solutions.

I would love to hear from you to find out what you are doing to keep positive, busy, and connected while remaining safe at home.

Best,

Carla

Some of my favorite places for curbside takeout…

El Alma’s curbside features family-sized meal options, a limited food menu, margarita set-ups, mango mimosa kits, beer, and wine to-go!

The Peached Tortilla Burnet Rd location is currently offering new curbside meals to-go in addition to their regular a la carte take-out order menu. All proceeds go to payroll.

Brentwood Social House is offering beer and wine (40% off!) along with their delicious food menu for curbside pickup. Call ahead 8am-3pm.

Mi Madre’s is offering to-go deliveries, which include margaritas and toilet paper (only for orders over $50), via phone calls. All proceeds will go towards paying its staff.

Some of my favorite free virtual workouts…

  • Barre3 offers 15 days of free classes when you sign up for a trial
  • Orangetheory Fitness is posting a free daily at-home workout, modified so that special equipment is not required
  • Black Swan Yoga is live streaming free classes daily (donations accepted)
  • Camp Gladiator is live streaming free classes daily on its Facebook page

Shows I’m bingeing right now…

  • Ozark on Netflix- A financial planner relocates his family after a money-laundering scheme goes wrong, forcing him to pay off a substantial debt to a Mexican drug lord in order to keep his family safe.
  • Shrill on Hulu- Comedy series starring Aidy Bryant (Saturday Night Live) as Annie, a young woman who wants to change her life — but not her body. Annie is trying to start her career while juggling bad boyfriends, a sick parent, and a perfectionist boss.
  • Fleabag on Amazon Prime- A hilarious and poignant window into the mind of a dry-witted, sexual, grief-riddled woman trying to make sense of the world.
